The following issues were discussed at the Forum: Electronic prescription and free choice of pharmacy. How and why will “Affordable Medicines” become even more affordable?

From April 1, 2019, the government program “Affordable Medicines” will be transformed and will be administered by the National Health Service. Just as the National Health Service of Ukraine concludes contracts with medical institutions and directly pays for the services provided by them, starting next year the National Health Service of Ukraine will contract with pharmacies. After concluding direct contracts with them, the NHSHU will directly reimburse them for the cost of medicines.

Among the speakers of the Forum: Deputy Minister of Health Roman Ilyk, Head of National Health Service Oleh Petrenko, Head of the Department for Development of the Electronic Health Care System Vladyslav Kostyk. The participants of the event were representatives of enterprises that already participate or wish to join the government program “Affordable Medicines”.

The experience of implementing the “Affordable Medicines” program in Ukraine (2017-2018) was presented and analyzed at the Forum. Information was provided about the political, legal and technical features of the transformation of the “Affordable Medicines” program in 2019 “first-hand”. 

The Forum was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the National Health Service of Ukraine, SE “E-Health”, pharmaceutical companies and associations of drug manufacturers, pharmacy chains and developers of medical information systems, the United States Agency for International Development USAID Ukraine , the World Health Organization Ukraine office, the USAID Project “Health Care Reform Support”, experts, journalists.
